Failover or load balancing Question

I am new to Cisco routers and would like some help to connect 2 internet connections to our LAN and provide load balancing or failover (prefered).

The 2 internet connections are provided by different ISP's. I have 1 Cisco 2600 router from ISP1 and a 1700 router from ISP2. The 2600 has a spare ethernet port and I was wondering if i can use this to connect to ISP2. Also could i just set the port to use a higher cost route so it only kicks in when ISP1 is down?

Any help will be gratefully received

G

Re: Failover or load balancing Question

Hi G,

well, you have n.2 gateways for your LAN. Normally we use HSRP for gateway redundancy.

Then, wich type of connection do you have for WAN services? Procotols eventually?

Thanks

Re: Failover or load balancing Question

Hi Andrea,

Thanks for the response. A couple of things here. What are n.2 gateways? and how do i configure HSRP? Also would our existing equipment support it?

We have a T1 connection and an sdsl connection.

Cheers

Graham
