what are the advantages in using LMI type Cisco rather than ANSI or Q933a in Frame Relay ?

These days, there isn't much of an advantage. Even the Cisco MGX switches support all three methods now.
If anything, the preferred approach is q933a since it is standards-based.
However, for a CPE DTE device, it does not really matter. It will auto-detect the LMI used by the switch it is connected to so there is no need to explicitly configure it.

The difference is in number of DLCIs supported and in Cisco specific features.
With Cisco LMI you have support for ForeSight, which is a congestion management technology pattented to Cisco. It is much better than FECN/BECN. In conjunction with Cisco WAN switches you will get better end to end performance.
