I have a sup720 taking in full internet routes via BGP
I get the following message when taking in routes
00:15:02: %MLSCEF-SP-7-FIB_EXCEPTION: FIB TCAM exception for IPv4 unicast, Some routes will be software switched.
Use "mls cef maximum-routes" to modify FIB TCAM partition.
I assume it?s ok to do
mls cef maximum-routes ip 239
i.e. specifying the maximum routes,
any negative effects of doing that ?
cheers

Hi,
Putting 239 will limit the FIB TCAM blocks. Try increasing it to a much bigger number ( may be equal to number of routes you have..

Check your sh mod output, you might have a DFC which supports small amount of FIB entries, like DFC3A only supports 224K FIB.
Also compare sh mls cef summary and sh mls cef maximum to see how many routes can not store in FIB and must send back to SUP720.
mls cef max ip would require a reboot, except that I did not see any other effect.
