GBIC to SFP

Hi there,

My customer has a 2950T-24 using WS-G5486 GBICs in one building and in the other he uses WS-2060s with GLC-LH SFPs. Fiber runs between the 2 buildings.

What sort of media converter do I need on each end to connect the switches?

Please advise.

Thanks,

Sorin

Re: GBIC to SFP

Thank you for the message, I was wondering what shoul recommend for the other end, GLC-LH.

I have the fiber goes in Gbic and in the other end I have only one GLC-LH.

There are some modules in the patch panel that convert the two wires to one?

Re: GBIC to SFP

you shouldn't need media converters if both ends are using fiber GBICs or SFPs you just need to match up connectors. If it is fiber on one end then you just need a standard 1000Base-SX to 1000Base-TX converter.
