tried -> http://www.freeccnastudyguide.com/study-guides/ccna/ch14/vrrp-hsrp-glbp/ working fine but -> seeing errors in Group members:
c200.140c.0000 (192.168.25.6
c201.140c.0000 (192.168.25,4) local
Mac is different.

Hi,

AS you mention the two mac address in your comment, maybe those belong to your Physical or virtual interface of the router. GLBP mac address must be started from 0007.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx

Can you share the full output of Show GLBP command? and your running configuration was outdated. It is showing that currently, you are using HSRP.

Deepak Kumar

Okay, I am not in office, will get back tomorrow.

Hello,

I recreated your setup in GNS3, and it works perfectly. What do you mean by 'the MAC is different' ? You will never get the same MAC address as in the example, since they are derived from the physical interfaces.

In addition to Deepak's remarks, also post the output of show gblp brief', iit should look similar to this (check for the virtual MAC addresses in bold):

R2#sh glbp brief
Interface Grp Fwd Pri State Address Active router Standby router
Fa0/0 1 - 100 Standby 192.168.25.5 192.168.25.6 local
Fa0/0 1 1 - Listen 0007.b400.0101 192.168.25.6 -
Fa0/0 1 2 - Active 0007.b400.0102 local -

Guys ,

thanks a ton for the help,

here are the output you requested me: attached files has sh runn, glbp and brief.

Hi,

I can see that GLBP is working fine.

Here is the virtual mac address for your devices:

HPEVTP_CoreRouter1#sh glbp bri
Interface Grp Fwd Pri State Address Active router Standby route
Gi0/2 7 - 100 Active 192.168.25.5 local 192.168.25.4
Gi0/2 7 1 7 Active 0007.b400.0701 local -
Gi0/2 7 2 7 Listen 0007.b400.0702 192.168.25.4 -

Here R1 is active and R2 is standby and working as a listener.

But keep in mind:

If no load-balance algorithm is specified then GLBP will operate in an identical fashion to HSRP, the AVG will only respond to Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) requests with its own Virtual Forwarder (VF) MAC address, and all traffic will be directed to the AVG with no occurrence of load balancing.

for the actual function of GLBP, you must configure any one load-balancing algorithm out of three (Weighted, Host dependent, and Round robin).

But in your case, I can see the Load balancing: round-robin.

Hi,
I am unable to get through to internet, that's the problem, I am using hsrp in core switch with IP 192.168.25.1 and lan users are using 172.16.30.1/24 .
Should I be using 172.16.30.1 as gateway or 192.168.25.5 ( glbp ip ) as gateway in my lan ? is the question.
Regards,
Vijay

Can you share your core switch routing table, Router routing table?

as per your core switch configuration, You gateway will be 30.1 for the users in this vlan.

File attached,

i have configured in router 1

glbp 7 ip 192.168.25.5
glbp 7 load-balancing host-dependent
glbp 7 weighting track 7 decrement 10

Hi,

Can you check your switch configuration specially VLAN 60?

interface Vlan60
description HRSP-RTR
ip address 192.168.25.3 255.255.255.248
standby 8 ip 192.168.25.1
standby 8 priority 110
standby 8 preempt

Why are you using HSRP on this vlan? As per your record, this VLAN is configured for core switch uplink. So Why here?

Remove the HSRP configuration from VLAN 60 from both switches?

Deepak Kumar
