Hello,
there are no specific thresholds defined for CPU, mem, ... for any devices. The only thing that can be done is check CPU or mem utilization on a specific router and verify whether it is normal/expected for the configuration used, amount of routes/prefixes, ...

Hi
I’ve searched for this type of information so many times, and I think it’s weird that there are no guidelines for these things. It should be possible to specify some threshold where things would start going wrong. If a networking device is at 100% CPU utilisation 24 hours a day there would be some problems since everything wouldn’t get done. So less than 100% all the time is good. Working backwards from there it should be possible to get to a point where most things will work as it should. A rule like: “More than X percent for the 5 minute average over two consecutive intervals” could then be created in a NMS.
How do we go about requesting such a metric guide from Cisco?
Regards
Jean
