Hello All:

Quick question. Have a 3620 and need to add another 2 FE ports. I have an open slot and have a NM2e/2w. Popped it in and it doesn't see it. Lights on but sh hard and nothing.

Running IOS 11.something. Can this indicate I need to upgrade IOS?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

That is usually the case (IOS update required).

You should also check the compatibility matrix on the main Cisco site for the module to see if it is even compatible with the hardware/chassis ... it may not be (even though it lights up).

A Two Ethernet NetMod should be OK hardware-wise, but it's always good to check.

Good Luck

Scott

Thanks. Do you have the link by chance. I can't find it

NM-2E2W

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps259/products_tech_note09186a00800ad3cc.shtml

NM-2FE2W

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps274/products_tech_note09186a00800b1155.shtml

According to the above pages, NM-2E2W is supported on 3620 platform for all IOS version and NM-2FE2W is supported on 3620 with ios version 12.0 or later.

I'm not clear from your description about what the exact module you have. If it is NM-2E2W and you can't see it on your 3620, either the cisco documentation is un-reliable (too bad) or you have a defective hardware (really too bad)
