HELP: Some simple netwrok Question

Hi all

Would like to ask if there are 10 users on LAN A, there are also 10 users on LAN B. Both LANs are 10KM apart. Each user will send 100Kbps during off peak period and 200Kbps during peak period. Hence the total transmission load for a LAN is approxi 1Mbps during off peak and 2Mbps during peak. If both LAN will to send data to each other. Am I right to say a Private Leased Line (T1) is not the ideal connection as it's data rate is only 1.544Mbps? There is a need to find a network link to withstand a 4Mbps of load.

Hi,

If you are absolutely sure that all users are going to be transmitting continuously at these rates, then a T1 will not do the job. However, if that is the max rate every user uses, the effects of statistical multiplexing may mean that a T1 is adequate. It all depends on the apps you are running and their traffic profiles.
