HI,

i have a 4506 switch, and yesterday we connect a new internet line to port g 6/11.

i applyed the folowing configiration to the port

!

interface GigabitEthernet6/11

no switchport

ip address 212.14.228.2 255.255.255.252

no keepalive

!

also i have a nother two ports i used as a gatway for my netwrok as following

!

interface GigabitEthernet6/24

no switchport

ip address 82.205.33.129 255.255.255.240

!

!

interface GigabitEthernet6/33

no switchport

ip address 82.205.32.241 255.255.255.240

!

and at last i add the routing

!

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 212.14.228.1

!

The problem is that when i enable the routing the CPU Utilization is very high. and the whole network become congested.

but if i disable the routing every thing is OK but no internet.

any ideas ???? :(

Hi,

Have you turned on the cef?

Hope it helps, rate if does,

Krisztian

What is cef ??? :):)

Hi,

CEF is Cisco Express Forwarding. It is a Cisco proprietary technology for fast packet forwarding. In case of multilayer switches the cef is implemented in hardware therefore provides very fast packet forwarding compared to the process switching. You can enable it with the ip cef command.

Thanks a lot...
