Hi,
Is there anywhere in the show version command that would indicate if a device is running the default or modular version of the IOS?

The IOS filename will have vz if modular and mz if regular IOS.
For instance:
Modular
s72033-ipservicesk9_wan-vz.122-33.SXH3a.bin
Regular
s72033-ipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-33.SXH3a.bin
__

Hi,
It is possible to be running an image with vz in the name yet not be modular. The process to run modular is (briefly)
copy image to device
boot from that image
"install" the image
reload to installed version
The output of "show ver" when running the installed version will include:
System is currently running from installed software
For further information use "show install running"
If it's not "installed" it is not upgradeable with individual modules. I'd give you the link to installing modular IOS but I can't find it. :-)
