Good Morning,Is there a limitation to the amount of sub-interfaces that can exist on a Cisco 6509? The switch has WS-SUP720-3B (Sup card), WS-X6724-SFP (linecard), and 12.2(33)SXH7 (IOS).
Thanks!

How many you need?
because, you know, it's very unlikey that you need more than doable.

Is there a specific number of maximum supported sub-interfaces? Or a command that can give me the range of sub-interfaces supported?
Thanks.

I will need about 150 sub-interfaces.

There can be about 4000 subinterfaces in 802.1q. Cisco supports that many, and if there were more, they would support more.
Consider, you're using an important Cisco product, not the router that comes free with cable television.

actually idb limit is 16k and it is software imposed.
About maximun number of sub-if Paolo is right. To say more each sub-interface requires an internal vlan to be used. Since the max number of internal vlans on sup720 based devices is 4096 the theoretical upper limit for them is 4096. In reality it is lower than that as other features might consume internal vlans (GRE, CoPP etc).

Riccardo
