Re: How to check console port faulty?

You have to ensure you are using the correct console cable and terminal w/ 9,600 baud, no parity, 8 data bits and 1 stop bit. Use ANSI terminal type.

If it still not work, try to restart the equipment w/ connected console to observe any display from the equipment during boot up.

If no display from console, it may faulty. Try to connect the console to other equipment to verify the access is working first.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jack,

thanks a lot for your reply.

any command can be used in the router to check if the console port is faulty? Since nobody currently at site right now can physically vierify.

thank you,

Silver

Re: How to check console port faulty?

Do you mean remote check the port ? I think there is no way to test it by command. You have to connect a terminal to test it physically.

Or connect a modem w/ same parameter and auto ans. w/ dial-in call. Then you dial in to the modem and connect to the console to test it.

Hope this helps.
