How to configure two 6506’s for Redundancy.

I have two 6506s with one “WS-X6K-SUP2-2GE w : 5.1” pre device. I would like to set these two devices in a redundancy topology, meaning if the primary 6506 failed the secondary (standby) 6506 will take total identity of the failed 6506, including moving all the running configuration information.

Can someone please tell me the best way to make this happen and/or point me in the right direction so that I can research?

SHOW MOD IS THE SAME ON BOTH DEVICES:

Hello lawrence,

If you had 6500-E, you could pair them together and create a VSS bundle similar to 3750 stacking, but unfortunately you have none E 6500, so that is not poosible.

You also have to have the right sup to do VSS.(Sup-720-VS)
