Is there a way to easily disable EIGRP neighbor NBMA network? It is point-to-multipoint circuit and I want to disable EIGRP adj with one neighbor on one PVC without affecting other neighbors on other PVCs.
The only thing I can think of is to use ACL to deny EIGRP packet from the spoke IP. However it is dangerous since I can't easily deny multicast used in EIGRP neighbor discovery in the ACL. Not sure what issue this will cause
Thanks Robert. I have a spoke that is having issue with a PVC to one hub.
We have two hubs and multiple spokes. Each hub has PVCs to all the spokes but not to another hub. Each spoke has two PVCs to each hub
So I want the spoke to take a different PVC/hub. I think outbound distribute-list is a good idea. I can't use passive interface on the spoke since it will shut down the adj with the second hub as well.
Do I just configure this on the spoke?
ip prefix-list abc permit /32
router eigrp 100
distribute-list gateway abc out g0/0
And configure the similar on the hub to affect traffic for another direction?
Distribute lists are meant only to control routes received or advertised using a standard access list. You cannot use a specific source and destination.
So, the way you have it set up, you can only deny the routes coming inbound from Hub A if they are different than Hub B. If they are adverstising the same routes, then you can't use a distribute list for this.
Another option you can use is to define the EIGRP neighbor statically. You should verify this but I believe this command disables the processing and sending of EIGRP multicast on that interface and uses unicast to the defined neighbor instead. That should keep the adjacency from forming with Hub A.
Hey Robert, actually I could use the gateway option to specify where the route comes from. With the option I can't specify the "output" direction or I used "input" direction. I can't specify what routes I want to filter but I don't need to anyway. Thanks for your input!
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
