HSRP question

Hi

What will be the convergence time if I swap the primary and secondary hsrp switches by changing their priority?

I have switch 1 as the primary and switch 2 as seconday. Now i want switch 1 as secondary and switch 2 as primary..

If you are changing the priority on switch 2 to make it the active router then it should become the primary right away, probably in <1 second or so. Ofcourse, you should also have the preempt configured on switch 2 for it to become active router immediately based on the higher priority.

Hi,

I agree with sunder, it will behave the primary s/w went down. and then sec will come up as a primary. its also depends how much time we have configured as preempt.
