dears,

i did this configuration for HSRP:

on 3845 Router (Active):

interface gigabitethernet0/0

ip address 55.55.55.2 255.255.255.192

standby 10 ip 55.55.55.1 is the gateway IP

standby 10 priority 105

standby 10 preempt

on VXR Router (Standby):

interface gigabitethernet0/0

ip address 55.55.55.3 255.255.255.192

standby 10 ip 55.55.55.1 is the gateway IP

standby 10 preempt

i saw after i did this configuration message drom router console says : HSRP is active.

but when i did the test by shutdown the active router the second router (standby) didn't work and the browsing and services stopped.where is the problem in configuration or in the test procedure should I shutdown t active router or not?

Is it possible to provide the output of "sh standby" on both routers.

I agree that the output of show standby would be an excellent place to start in investigating this problem. In addition it would be very helpful to know how these routers are connected and to verify that they have direct connectivity. Could you do a traceroute 55.55.55.3 from 55.55.55.2 and post the output? It would show that there is connectivity and whether there was any other layer 3 device in the path.
