HSRP

Hi,

Can i know how the HSRP can impliment in router for redundancy.and in which case we are implimenting HSRP in router.

Everyting is configured on the lan or ethernet interface with standby commands. The routers are considered to be in a standby group or groups depending on your needs. The unique standby ip address is the default gateway address advertised by all routers in that group. The router with the highest priority is considered the ACTIVE Router while the all other routers in the group are considered STANDBY. Default priority 100, therefore you assign your primary router a higher number to make it the ACTIVE Router. You can track an interface optionally. If the router hardware or interface you track should fail Active router goes to standby and a standby with the next highest priority goes to active. You need a separate Wan line for each router.
