Mike,

The best that you can get with your current processor is SSH version 1. NPE-200 is not supported beyond 12.2(15)T. Check the following url:

Addendum To EoS/EoL Notice For NPE-200 And Cisco 7206 Router Chassis

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps341/prod_eol_notice09186a008032d592.html

12.2(15)T16

Feature Set: ENTERPRISE IPSEC 3DES

Image Name: c7200-jk9s-mz.122-15.T16.bin

DRAM / Min Flash : 128 / 20

Do rate if this helps!

Mike, I see that your router has been stable for about 2yrs now. Are you upgrading the IOS for any new features? Have you identified the IOS to upgrade to? If not, let us know your requriements.

The procedure is similar to other platforms. You wont have to upgrade the DS3 card code as its pulled from the IOS itself.

Steps to upgrde:

1. First ensure you have enough space on the flash for the new IOS. You have a 20MB PCMCIA in slot0 which you'll probably have to empty to copy a newer IOS. (You can not copy an IOS larger then 20megs at present)

router#format flash:

OR

router#erase flash:

1. copy the file on the tftp server and ensure connectivity between the tftp server and the router.

2. copy the file from the tftp server to the router

router#copy tftp slot0:

(While specifying the filename make sure you include the .bin extention if its there on the file. Its case sensitive as well.)

3. Specify the correct boot statement:

router(config)#boot system flash slot:

router(config)#exit

router#wr mem

router#reload

Re: I need help on steps for upgrading image on Cisco 7206 VXR r

Hi Vaibhav,

There is no particular reason except that we will be having a downtime for a total network upgrade and my boss has asked me to have this upgraded in case we want to do BGP and also SSh is not currently supported on it.

I have downloaded c7200-ik9s-mz.123-22a.bin to use for this upgrade and its size is 20MB. i wasn't sure if I have enough room on thsi router, I guess i have about 30MB of free space?

I have attached a text file showing sh version and sh flash for your attention.

as far as the steps, I wasn't sure about the copy tftp slot0, so I was not sure about the slot0 part of it and appreciate if you could provide me with an understanding of why slot0? is this the same as disk0?

Please advise.

Mike

Re: I need help on steps for upgrading image on Cisco 7206 VXR r

Hi,

c7200-ik9s-mz.123-22a.bin needs minimum 128MB DRAM and 48MB FLASH. You have 128MB DRAM but your FLASH size is only 20MB. You may need to upgrade the BOOT IMAGE as well.

If the image file size is 20MB, it will not fit in a 20MB FLASH.
