Re: Ideal Switchs!

Hi Ali,

It all depends on your network setup and number of nodes which are connected to access switche and number of access switches which will uplink to distribution switches.

In many cases in big network Ca4000 and cat 6500 series are used as distribution switches and in many situations and network cat3560 and cat3750 will work ideal for distribution switch

If your network is not very big 3560 will serve the purpose and for access switches 2960 will work well as will provide you GBIC Port fiber also.

To know more about 3560 and 2960 switches

Re: Ideal Switchs!

Hi

Cisco 2950G model comes up with GBIC ports which can be used here as you access switch but still you can think off going on for Cisco 2960G series which has come out there in the market very recently and will be supported for more time when compared to Cisco 2950 series switches.

Also if you have some specific feature requirements or anything else in your mind you can post it out here which can help to suggest the suitable model for your requirement..

Re: Ideal Switchs!

FYI, in the event you are not already aware, Cisco announced on April 19 that the 2950G and 2950T have reached End-of-Life (EOL) and End-of-Sale (EOS).

As mentioned, the 2960 is a good replacement.
