Hi all

I have 2 internet routers currently

I let the routers decide which route to take

however I want to influence a route to go out of a particular internet router, say a route to 4.4.4.4 I want to go over internet router 1 not 2

how would I do this  ?

Hi Carl,

Do you have iBGP between your two routers ?

If yes, then set the LOCAL PREF higher for the prefix you want to influcence on the prefered exit router.

You would require to match the require prefix either using ACL or prefix-list and then calling the same ACL or Prefix-list in route map and setting higher local_pref. Apply this route-map in IN direction on the preferred exit router.

HTH,

Smitesh

can you give me example of this please ?

Please provide a sample network of yours that shows how the downstream devices are connected.. include as much details as possible to come up with a solution that fits in your requirement.

Are you learning all the complete routing table from ISP?

Are you using redistribution or just injecting a default route to downstream devices?

Are you running any kind of HSRP in the downstream devices?
