good morning

i am using cisco 1841 router

at one of my interface i can see "input error" and they grow very fast

at both side (my router and ISP router )the interfaces set to "full duplex" & "speed 100"

please advice?

see my interface details:

Hi,

An input error includes runts,  giants, no buffer, CRC, frame, overrun, and ignored counts. Other input-related  errors can also cause the input error count to be increased. Some datagrams can  have more than one error. when the traffic that passes through that link is high or when it has devices such as servers connected to that interface. This high load of traffic oversubscribes the ports, which exhausts the input buffers and causes the Rx-No-Pkt-Buff counter and input errors to increase rapidly.

Check cables to determine whether any are damaged. Also ensure Category 5 cabling is being used and not another type, such as Category 3 or cable is too long.

Hope to help !!

Ganesh.H

when you said high traffice what do you mean

at my interface do i pass high packets ?

Hi

What is the device connected onto this interface on the other end? is it a switch or a csu/dsu device ?

regds

i do not know

i need to check

can you explain me what do you mean by un normal traffice on my interface ?

you said its chould be a problem on the interface witch make all those problem to come (input error)

maybe when the traffic is to high the error comes ? chould it be?

when you said high traffice what do you mean

at my interface do i pass high packets ?

Those are possible reason when your port is connected with server at the other end ,in your case i dont think you are having a huge amount of traffic in this interface as i see input rate it normal.

Ganesh.H

so what do you think the problem ?

and how can solve the problem ?

Complain to ISP and have their router replaced.
