Hi guys,

Can someone explain why duplex mismatch cause input errors on ethernet interface? We know that speed must match on both ends of the link, but why? What is the reason behind it?

Thanks

When one half-duplex station is transmitting, a full-duplex side can transmit also, at the same time. This will cause an excessive collision error.

Sir:

In a half duplex configuration, when one station is talking, the other has to shut up and listen. Full duplex will not recognize that and not shut up.

Reminds me of my relationship with my ex-wife... :-)

A duplex mismatch can result in performance issues, intermittent connectivity, and loss of communication.
