inter pvlan communication

Hi guys,

hope u r doing fine.

I have a problem with private vlans. In a shared environment, I am supposed to host multiple webservers under a private vlan

like

PRIMARY VLAN 1

secondary VLANs

1 2 3

Servers from secondary vlan 1 can never see a server in Sec.vlan 2 or 3 and vice versa.I need this to be accomblished in layer two.

I hope,If im going to layer three and subnetting then there is no need of private vlans.

Is there any possiblity?

thanks in adance

Re: inter pvlan communication

Hello,

with vlan, private or not, there is no communciations at layer 2 between vlans.

Once you place a router, or layer 3 switch, there may be communication at layer 3 that you can limit with use of configuration.

In any case, each vlan should use a different IP subnet.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!
