IOS bug in C2500-IS-L Version 12.3(17) / 12.3(17a) ?

Hello everybody,

I was trying out some simple bgp scenarios between two old cisco 2500s when one of the routers crashed.

Looking into it, I discovered that whenever I save the config, memory gets lower every time without getting recovered. In the end the router crashes.

First I had IOS "C2500-IS-L Version 12.3(17)" running when one of the routers crashed. At cisco.com I found that there is an referal to 12.3(17a).

I installed 12.3(17a) but I can still reproduce the problem.

Does this qualify as a software bug?

I attached two files:

RTA: It includes a complete "show tech" and it shows multiple times how I save the configuration followed by a "show mem" until it crashes.

RTC: "show tech" of the second router

Regards,

Dirk.

Hello everybody,

No takers?

How does Cisco deal with IOS issues for hardware that is EOL and EOS?

Cisco has so far still supplied bug-fixes for the 12.2 and 12.3 releases on the c2500 platform.

Regards, Dirk.
