Hi,

In short

SMI is now known as IP Base and EMI is known as IP Services.

SMI or IP Base software provide you basic features which include InterVLAN routing, Static IP Routing, HSRP, RIP 1, RIP2 and many more.

EMI or IP Services include all SMI Features as well as OSPF, BGP, IGP, EIGRP and may enhanced features.
