HI Srinivas ,

Please see the Show Flash: command for viewing all the images on the device .

Verify the boot variable  to see the sequence of the image .

Stay away from the 15.0(1)SE and SE1.  It's got a memory leak issue and Cisco is still trying to fix this.

Re: ios upgrade on cisco 2960 switch

sh ver displays currently running version.

Look for commands in sh run that start with boot. There may be a specific version listed. Delete that line and reboot.

Re: ios upgrade on cisco 2960 switch

HI Srinivas ,

You can setup a TFTP Server with all the requiered images needed at your site .

You can remotely login to each device and issue the copy tftp: flash: andprovide the image needed for your platform .

Cisco 2960 is a L2switch and we can expect only L3 behaviour . Ios upgrade will resolve your bugs in the exsisting images . Please reffer the release notes for the software release .

ios upgrade on cisco 2960 switch

If you want to be able to look or make changes to the switch via http or https , i will download and load on the switch the .tar image that include the web server (http, https).

The .tar imag will include you.bin file and you will also have a web server loaded on the switch, you will have the option to enable it ip http server or disable it no ip http server, same thing for https ip https server and no ip https server.

Hope it helps.

And also another advantage for having the http server is that u can do the software update using that gui from the https(s) server, you don,t have to worry about the tftp server and you will also be able to manage the switch (depending on the model) usign Cisco Network Assistant.
