these are the commands configured in one router

ip domain list 202.56.230.6

ip domain name 202.56.240.5

Now i have removed them and configured

ip name-server 202.56.240.5

ip name-server 202.56.230.6

what is the difference between them

Hii mamta,

IP domain-list will have the domains to be searched if the initial name resolution doesnt find useful entries.whereas the more predominant ip name server will have the actual dns which actually resolutes the dns lookups for any domain.

ip domain-name
