Is it possible to configure a router to automatically ping (or send some other sort of IP keepalive) an IP address every so often, and base the status of a virtual interface on whether these keepalives are regularly received? I recall seeing this in a TAC Newsletter several years ago, but have not been able to find anything referencing this. At the bare minimum, if you can just tell me what keywords I should search Google or Cisco for, I would greatly appreciate it.
