IP SLA - Alert

Hi

IP SLA works great.  If Provider 1 is down then all traffic is shifted to Provider 2 but administrator is not aware if the link is down.

Our NMS monitors interfaces and hence if the interface is up and service behind it is down it cannot reflect it. Can the Router send  alert to an email address with existing IP SLA monitor or any other option to get this working. NMS we have - Solarwinds  ( i m aware it has IP SLA tool which is licensed, for now we cannot get license )

Hi

Since we are talking about a router or a switch with routing capabilities then yes in many cases you can use EEM and TCL to send that message. or alot of other triggers and stuff to be made.

One thing I came to think of, the syslog should be able to give you a warning directly into the Solarwinds NPM that can tell you on screen wich link is active or not.

so you should be able to display wich link is in use in the NPM.

You can configure the router to send an email when the sla of your route fails (track status to down)

Check the attached file found to the EEM cisco community
