Hi, I am totally confused with IPV6 tunnelling funda. I have IPV6 on inside interface of Router R1 and R2. Both routers are connected to Real IPV4 IP. Now we have three option for tunneling-

1. IPV6IP Manual

2. IPV6IP GRE

3. IPV6IP4 Automated

In which scenario, I have to choose which one. Please help as I am not getting any perfect clue.

Rupesh,

The short answer is that it depends.

1. Encapsulates ipv6 directly over IP. Has less overhead than GRE for instance. You will not be able to run multicast and ISIS.

Manual configuration is required for each site (is point to point).

2. Supports Multicast and ISIS. Requires manual configuration for each site (is point to point)

3. Does not support multicast and ISIS. Does not require manual configuration for each site (is point to multipoint)
