Hi all
classic problem where looks right, but no adjacency is established.
I checked MTU, authentication, I can ping remote interface.
R1
interface TenGigabitEthernet2/3.304
encapsulation dot1Q 304
ip address x.x.x.x 255.255.255.254
ip pim sparse-dense-mode
ip router isis
isis circuit-type level-2-only
isis network point-to-point
isis authentication mode md5
isis authentication key-chain sam
isis csnp-interval 10
R2
interface Vlan304
ip address x.x.x.x 255.255.255.254
ip pim sparse-dense-mode
ip router isis
carrier-delay msec 16
isis circuit-type level-2-only
isis network point-to-point
isis authentication mode md5
isis authentication key-chain sam
on R2 shows ES-IS & R1 show init state
TIA

Are you using IP subnet zero in your configuration?
The subnet mask seems to suggest the same.
Can you try changing the SM to /30 and check
Also post the output of debug isis adj-packets
HTH, rate if it does

Hi there
as everything was adding up and adjacency was still down...I reloaded the router and all is fine. Unfortunately, I can tell what was the initial cause.
Thanks

Hi Sam,
can you please also post your "router isis" config? Second, does it work when only configuring "ip router isis" on the interfaces and nothing else relating to isis?

Sam,
Do u mean to say it is working now?
Maybe you should have tried clearing the ISIS process once :-)

yes it sis working.
I have actually removed IS-IS under interfaces from both sides and reconfigured again. teh cisco recomemndation is that if all looks as it should but adjacency is not established....contact TAC, I tried a reload.
it will be interesting to see if this issue will come up again.
Thanks again !
Sam
