Is it Power problem or Link problem .. How to fix ..

We are prime customer of one of service provider and we have connected all our routers's branches through MPLS BGP circuits and we have dedicated network application CA Spectrum to monitor all network devices send alarm via SNMP if location goes down . We have one problem that sometimes the if one location network went down we don't make sure that problem relates to power in location or ISPlink problem ( because traget router doesn't recieve snmp poll ), hence we log trouble trouble ticket with ISP regarding router circuit is down , then once router comes up we find the problem relates to that power was down in location .... This issue has reflectd many escalation aginst us ..

So ,, please we need some solution or services to how we can manage and confirm that remote location affected due to power outage or BGP link issue .

Regards,

Majed

Consider a small snmp managable UPS device that will power your router and the CPE at a remote location.

You then configure it to trap and notify when it switches from line power to battery, and back again.

Our UPS have a 10/100BaseTx card in it.  When the power goes off, the UPS sends out the "alarms" and SNMP traps to our SNMP collection server and an NMS server.

Any reputable UPS vendor can give you a demo of this feature.

Receive SNMP alarms?  Heck no.  You got this idea the wrong way.  The Cisco devices SEND SNMP traps to an SNMP receiver.

The routers and switches CANNOT be SNMP receivers.
