Q. How to configure a 1700 series router for a always on isdn BRI Connection.

Steps below:

i) Purchase ISDN BRI card.

ii) Apply ISDN-2 line.

iii) Configure the BRI interface. Can have many config flavours depends on wat you need to do.

So,can't really tell unless ur network requirement is clearer.

if you want to keep the ISDN line connected you can try out usxing dialer idle-timeout 2147483 command ..

this will keep the line for 2147483 Seconds before disconnecting the call ,meanwhile if it sees some interesting traffic in between it will reset the timer and will work in normal mode..
