ISDN dialer-watch (multiple EIGRP ASs)

Guys,

Are there any problems associated with dialer-watch configurations when using multiple EIGRP ASs.

IE,

R1 is a remote router and has a serial (to R2) and isdn line (to R3) and local ethernet LAN

R1 to R2 is in AS1

R3 is in AS2 and has dialer-watch for network on R1 (ethernet)

So when serial goes down (in AS1), a link is established in AS2

AS1 and AS2 have mutual redistribution between them

I know this is not a perfect configuration, but one I need to perform for a temporary period of time.

Many thx

Ken

Re: ISDN dialer-watch (multiple EIGRP ASs)

Ken,

AFAIK, dialer watch would only care about the route it's watching and it doesn't pay attention to the source of the route itself. Hence, existence of multiple AS should be transparent to dialer watch and it shouldn't affect the operation of this feature.

Dialer watch keys on the presence or absence of the watched route(s) in the IP route table. The fact that the watched route originated in another AS will not cause any problems.
