I purchased 2 different USB to Serial adapters to use with laptops that do not have serial interfaces. For some reason, you can receive input from the console of routers/access points, but you cannot send any keystrokes back in the console. You can't transmit any keystrokes at all. I have all of the correct HyperTerminal settings for Cisco devices. Does anyone know if there is a solution to this problem, possibly a problem with pinouts?
I have 2 Belkin ones and I never had any problem. I am assuming you are using the standard cisco console cable (rolled)? You have the settings for hyperterm at 9600, 8, N, 1 with flowcontrol turned off?
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
