L2TP tunnels

Hi,

yesterday I upgraded the IOS release from 12.2(12b) to 12.2(34a).

the 7206VXR router maintains the same configuration of L2TP:

vpdn enable

vpdn multihop

!

vpdn-group Exxx-IP

accept-dialin

protocol l2tp

virtual-template 1

lcp renegotiation always

no l2tp tunnel authentication

source-ip 1xx.31.87.xxx

ip mtu adjust

!

vpdn-group TxxxxxxLI

accept-dialin

protocol l2tp

virtual-template 11

terminate-from hostname t.xxx.dial

l2tp tunnel password 7 xxx05xxx80xxx

virtual-template 10 pre-clone 256

virtual-template 11 pre-clone 64

interface Virtual-Template10

ip unnumbered Loopback1

no logging event link-status

load-interval 30

no snmp trap link-status

peer default ip address pool adsl_512

ppp authentication pap DIAL

ppp authorization DIAL

ppp accounting DIAL

ppp timeout retry 10

end

interface Virtual-Template11

ip unnumbered Loopback10

no logging event link-status

load-interval 30

no snmp trap link-status

peer default ip address pool tixxxxli

ppp authentication pap TIxxxxLI

ppp authorization TIxxxxLI

ppp accounting TIxxxxLI

ppp timeout retry 10

end

The latest release IOS (34a) this commands are accepted but the router doesn't work properly.

For the ones with virtual template 10 there is a lot of delay but for the customer with virtual template 11 a few tunnels works the others.

I don't find any bug related to VPDN for this release. Why this different behaviour?

Can anyone answer me?

Thanks.

Regards, Paolo

Re: L2TP tunnels

This might be due to high CPU utilization initiated by the L2 tunneling protocols after the upgrade. So you need minimum 128 MB of DRAM and 48 MB of flash to run this image.
