Load Balancing between two leased lines

Hi,

We have two leased lines to our branch office, each 128 K. Currently, we are using primary link as active and secondary link as Redundant. In case of primary link is down, we need to change the static Routes manually pointing to secondary link. Can we do the Load balancing between two links and when Primary goes down, secondary link should take over automaticcaly for all operations. When the primary link comes back, both the links should do Load balancing. We are using EIGRP as Routing Protocol.

Thanks

You can multilink between the two links so that even if one link fails, you will still have other link routing traffic, and when both links are up, you get effectively 256k bundle.

Here is an example of bundling multiple links.

Thanks for your reply. FYI, both the links are terminating in two separate Routers and Router model is 1700 series with IOS 12.1(5r)T1.

Thanks

Hello,

in your case, with two routers, I think you are looking for Multichassis Multilink PPP, check this document for configuration details:
