Load Balancing Traffic to ISP with BGP

Dear All,

I have two router with two internet link connecting to the same ISP. My AS is using BGP AS 65535 and My ISP AS BGP 4xxx. My ISP announce a default route to my router.

I would like to load balance traffic on my two router and two link.

My router do not support GLBP? Can I do that with BGP?

Thanks.

Re: Load Balancing Traffic to ISP with BGP

Can you respond to the following questions to recommend the correct solution.

1. Do you want to load balance traffic leaving your network or traffic coming in.

2. What is connected to those 2 BGP routers facing your inside network. If they are connected to a firewall (outside int), are they connected to 2 different firewalls or the same one?

3. Are you advertising your public IP to your ISP via BGP. If you are then, are the bgp attributes the same across both links.

Re: Load Balancing Traffic to ISP with BGP

1. Load balancing traffic in and out of my network.

2. One Proxy Server in inside network

3. Yes, my router advertise the public IP to ISP via BGP.

Thanks.

Re: Load Balancing Traffic to ISP with BGP

Subnet your networ in to two.

Run HSRP multi group for out going traffic.

Folling are the guide lines for HSRP M-group configuration

- group1 active on Router1 with subent 1

- Gateway fir the outgoing traffic will be Virtual ip of group1.

Same way

- Group 2 will be ctive on router 2 with subnet 2

- Gateway for the second subnet will be V-IP of group 2

For incomming traffic

RUN BGP with ISP, allow the subnets in the advertise routes to ISP.

Use local pref for route anoucements.

- First subnet will be anounce on the router one with more local preference

- Second Subnet will be anounced on the second router with more Value of Local preference.

-------

Alos put back-up can be configured for HSRP groups

as well as route anouncements of subnets.
