HI Nickolas, [PLs Rate if Helps]

What is the problem you are experiencing while logging via Console ?

Do you use the correct Bits setting in Hyperterminal while using Console ?

Does the router has some configuration ?

By Mistake whether you have done any commands like: "transport input none" ?

INFO:

You need to connect some dialer devices (ie., Modem with Phone lines) to AUX port inorder to login.

PLS RATE if HELPS

Best Regards,

Guru Prasad R

The router has been configured with the command

line con 0

exec-timeout 5 0

logging synchronous

no exec

autohangup

The 'no exec' command is where the problem comes in,it has no ip address on any of its ethernet interfaces.

Please help me on this.

Thank you for your assistance.

I'll appreciate greatly any kind of assistance towards this end.

Thank you.

Nickolas

The comment by Guru that you need to connect a modem to login on the aux is not entirely accurate. While it is true that the original purpose of the aux port was to support remote out of band management using a modem, the aux port is not restricted to using a modem. You generally can take the console cable that you normally use, connect it to the aux port, and establish an exec session. Assuming that you have configured proper passwords you should be able to correct the error on the console configuration from the aux port.

If the attempt to connect via the aux is not successful then your other option is to use the procedure for password recovery. Set the config-register to 0x2142 and reboot. This will bypass the existing statup-config and allow you onto the console. After gaining access you can do a config mem to load the statup config, and then you can correct the configuration of the console. Bear in mind that if you do this the physical interfaces will be shut down and you will need to no shut them. Also be careful to set the config-register back to 0x2102.
