It's a loopback ip address. If you need to access some application within your host via ip address, you can use that loopback address.

Example: if you are hosting web on a server, and would like to test the website from the host, you can browse to http://127.0.0.1

According to u  this IP address only for the testing purpose... isn't it?

Yes, absolutely correct. Basically just to check connectivity on the port that you open on your host, and making sure you can access it locally.

Hi,

This IP is used for Internal network loop testing in a node.

to check whether your LAN card is working or not

Correct.

In theory the entire 127.x.x.x is for that purpose.

Federico.

whether 127.0.0.1 only used  or 127.x.x.x the entire network  are used in that testing purpose ?

The loopback address of 127.0.0.0 is a software construct and does not apply to any physical interface. It helps me when I think of it as an address that a device uses when it wants to talk to itself.

While 127.0.0.1 is frequently used, any of the addresses within 127.0.0.0 can be used for this purpose.
