maximum length of an X25 cable?

We have a requirement to use an existing X25 dialup router for a new project. We want to build a new comms rack and extend an X25 serial cable from the existing router, under the floor to the new rack ( x25 card in a new server). Can anyone tell us what the maximum cable length for an X25 connection like this. I think we are looking for 25 meters?.........do we need to get this made up...?

Appreciate an help.

Thanks

Re: maximum length of an X25 cable?

The length of any cable depends upon its interface standard. The shielding of the cable and the speed of the data that you want to place on it. The higher the speed the shorter the cable will be. Assuming a speed of 56k, then you can run a V.35 cable about 200ft. To be sure research the interface standard you are using (V.35, RS-232, RS449, RS-530, etc..) The standard will tell you how long you can run the cable and for what speed you can run it at....
