Maximum Path in BGP

Hi,

The requirement for 'maximum path' in BGP differs in MPLS network and non-MPLS network. The router wil put two+ routes using maximum path command even if their some attributes are diferent.

But in MPLS BGP network some attributes, such as LP , MED etc need to be same and with different next-hops , so that the router can choose two BGP routes using maximum path command.

Plz explain why this requirement in MPLS BGP network...?

Thx,

G

BGP Multipath allows installation into the IP routing table of multiple BGP paths to the same destination. These paths are installed in the table together with the best path for load sharing. BGP Multipath does not affect bestpath selection.Refer URL
