Memory requirements for IOS upgrade

I have a client with 2620XM and 1721 routers. They will be upgrading both to SP Svcs 12.4.6T. The max DRAM/Flash for the 1721 is 128/32 -- this is also the required memory for the IOS (per Feature Navigator). I cannot for the life of me find orderable spare part numbers for either the DRAM or the flash. For the 2620XM the max is 256/48 the requirement for the IOS is 192/48. (2)MEM2600XM-128D= works for the DRAM, but I can't find a part number for the flash.

Help!

Re: Memory requirements for IOS upgrade

I agree it's like finding a needle in the haystack. See the part numbers below. AFAIK, these appear to be the correct parts.

1721 Product literature indicates it can support up to 128/32 DRAM/flash. You can use two each of those cards. For the 2600XM flash you can get a 32+16 mb SIMM. I assume the router has 2 slots for the flash SIMM and DRAM cards.

MEM2600XM-32FS= 32MB Flash SIMM for the Cisco 2600XM

MEM2600XM-16FS= 16MB Flash SIMM for the Cisco 2600XM

MEM1700-64D= Cisco 1700 64MB DRAM DIMM

MEM1700-16MFC= Cisco 1700 16MB Mini-Flash Card

Hope this helps!

Re: Memory requirements for IOS upgrade

I will also recommend below for the shopping list of the 2621XM flash :

MEM2620-32FSBOOT= 32MB FLASH SIMM and BOOTROM for 262x Only

If also include the updated bootrom incase your current bootrom cannot support 12.4 rel.

Hope this helps.

Re: Memory requirements for IOS upgrade

Thanks for the response. The number of slots seems to be my problem. Per http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/routers/ps221/products_installation_guide_chapter09186a008007e578.html#wp1005082 the 1721 has one slot each for DRAM and Flash. Per http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/routers/ps259/products_installation_guide_chapter09186a008007e1fb.html#wp92946 the 2620XM has one slot for Flash (I'm okay on the DRAM).

Am I missing something here?

Re: Memory requirements for IOS upgrade

I am so sorry that please ignore my last message. The memory that I mentioned in my post is for 2620 insteadof 2620 XM.

For your case, please try to check is there any onboard flash in 2620XM. Try to take away the flash and boot up the router to check the flash capacity. However, I can't test it or prove it by any doc.

If there is no onboard flash, you may need to contact Cisco for the upgrade. There is a part no. of the 48MF, but it is factory upgrade option.

MEM2600XM-32U48FS 32 to 48 MB Flash Factory Upgrade for the Cisco 2600XM

Moreover, please check your 2620XM can support more than 128MD or not. You may require to upgrade the bootrom.

Re: Memory requirements for IOS upgrade

Thanks for all the help. There is on-board memory. Here is where I found it: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/ps6350/prod_release_note09186a0080575f75.html#wp1444689
