Hi

I have two frame-relay link configured as MFR on cisco 2821 with IOS c2800nm-advipservicesk9-mz.124-19.bin.On CE end its showig UP/Down but at PE end its showing down/down, Searched cisco site but found only one document but even could help me out.

CE End Config :

Hello,

I am not very familiar with MFR but what I find odd is this output on your PE:

Serial8/0/18:0, HW state = down, link state = Down, LID = Serial8/0/18:0

Serial8/0/16:0, HW state = down, link state = Down, LID = Serial8/0/16:0

This looks as if the interfaces or the subinterfaces themselves were not operational, and hence the MFR bundle also cannot work. Are the corresponding physical interfaces activated and properly configured? Is this running some T or E line?

Best regards,

Peter

Thanks Peter for jumping in ,Even I have noticed the same thing and informed service provider and got follwoing reply from SP :

"The only way we can get the PE interfaces to come up, is when loops are applied. Once the circuit is patched through to the CE, both Serial interfaces stay down. I've no idea why the CE interfaces are up/down, and the PE interfaces are down/down. I've check the controllers for both interfaces, and they both are showing "Receiver has loss of frame". Any ideas what might be causing this? The controllers are configured with Internal clock source, and no-crc4. I've already changed these settings, but it doesn't make any difference"

Hello,

The logical question is whether the CSU/DSU at the PE site is correctly connected and operating. At least the interface should be in up/down - a Serial interface in the down/down state means that there is most probably a physical layer fault.

Do you have an overview of how the physical interconnection between CE and PE exactly looks like? Would it be possible to post it here as a picture?

Thanks!

Best regards,

Peter

The link is come up and it was the problem with the service provider modem settings .

Hello,

So you're saying it is working now? Great!

Best regards,

Peter
