mlppp - with 2 T1s bundle name

Hi,

I setup a multilink 1 with 2 serial T1 lines in the group1

Serial1/0:0 unassigned YES manual up down

Serial1/1:0 unassigned YES manual up up

ran #debug ppp multilink events

29w3d: Se1/0:0 MLP: Request add link to bundle

29w3d: Se1/0:0 MLP: Adding link to bundle

29w3d: Se1/0:0 MLP: Link unable to join bundle 00601d3d8ed300, name 0060.1d3d.8ed3 doesn't match

29w3d: Se1/0:0 MLP: Link not added to bundle

protocol not up on serial 1/0:0 and not sure what the issue is with the bundle name

any suggestions

Thanks

Frank

Re: mlppp - with 2 T1s bundle name

Hi,

Base on the output that you've shown S1/0:0 is up/down, you cannot bundle this two if one of the link is down, please make sure that L1 & L2 is up.

If my assumption is not right and S1/0:0 is up/up and you really need to configure PPP multilink with the bundle name please check this link.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk713/tk507/technologies_tech_note09186a0080093c49.shtml

You can also just use a simple configuration, please see below.

interface Multilink1

ip address 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0

no cdp enable

ppp multilink

no ppp multilink fragmentation

multilink-group 1

!

interface Serial1/0:0

no ip address

ip route-cache distributed

encapsulation ppp

no fair-queue

ppp authentication chap

ppp multilink

multilink-group 1

!

interface Serial1/1:0

no ip address

ip route-cache distributed

encapsulation ppp

no fair-queue

ppp authentication chap

ppp multilink

multilink-group 1

Re: mlppp - with 2 T1s bundle name

Hi Ansley,

I have the 2 T1 S1/0:0 and S1/1:0 configured to the multilink-group 1

Multilink1, bundle name is 0060.1d64.d9f2

when the remote side tries to come up the second T1 is up up and the S1/0:0 is up down

and the bundle name is 00601d64d9f2

when I administratively shutdown the s1/1:0 then the s1/0:0 comes up up and then the bundle name is

0060.1d64.d9f2

then I can bring up the other T1 s1/1:0 and it goes up up

seems to be an issue with the bundle name initially ?

any suggestions

Thanks

Frank
