More Specific Routes

Hi,

Can any body tell me what are more specific routes.

Hi Rahim,

More specific routes means the longest prefix match for a particular destination route. For example we have a summary address route like 192.168.192/21 and the addresses aggregate under this address are 192.168.193/24,192.168.194.0/24, these routes are more specific routes then the aggregate route 192.168.192/21.

I think I am able to explain it enough to make it understand.

You can use the concept of the subnet mask of the IP address then you can understand it easily.

i.e. more digits are fixed then it is more specific. or the routes w/ longer mask then it is more spcific.
