Hello MPLS Guru's,
We are just statred using PIP service from Verizon, do we have to have BGP in our CE router, would it able to work on static routes towards the PE router. ?? we don't want any redundacy or bandwidth increase in future.
Best Regards

hi
though i am not sure about PIP service offered by verizon you are not required to run bgp all the times.
you can run static and start forwarding the traffic with the use of the same.
may be some clarity on PIP service will help to justify whether bgp is really reqd.

Thanks Spremkumar for the reply. We have client bank router on the other side of MPLS cloud. Our CE router using PPP encapsulation and is participating in the MPLS cloud that way. So you think we can use static routes towards the PE router???

if the set is as below:
CE-PE-P-P-PE-CE(bank)
where PE-P-P-PE forms ur MPLS cloud, u can use what ever u want on CE's. preferably BGP, but static route is also common.
