Hello everyone,

I am seeing these entries on our core switch. Can someone explain what this means and if this is a problem. It is logging this just about every 3-5 seconds.

Thanks

Hi,

That are Multicast debugs output...

Issue command "show debugs" to check if somebody left debugs on before logout..

Once done, do "un all" to disable all debugs..

HTH,

Hi,

The first question is, do you have multicast applications on your network?

The specific debug that your device has is "debug ip igmp".

IGMP is automatically enable on your network device when you enable '''ip multicast-routing"

Additionally you have enable Auto-RP for PIM-Sparse-Mode becauses this protocol use the reserved multicast address 224.0.1.39.

Can you look for commands on your device like this

ip pim send-rp-announce Loopback0 scope 3

ip pim send-rp-discovery Loopback0 scope 3

HTH.

We have multi-cast enabled on the network since we have IP speakers located through out for bells and announcments. This is a school disctrict.

Thanks for your assistance! It turns out that someone did turn on the debug for IGMP.
