when you have two PIM-SM domains peering with each other using MSDP, how does one PIM domain join a group in the other PIM domain it knows about via MSDP. Does it use IGMP between the domains or is this part of MSDP.

PIM joins are used between the two domains just as they are within a single domain. IGMP is only used between the multicast receiver and its local router.

Thanks for that is just what I needed Ive been reading the IETF internet draft and couldnt find anything in it about Joins.
