Multicast mac of a routed packet

Experts have a basic question

I know for a unicast packet the destination mac keeps changing every hop. What happens in case of a multicast packet?

does the mac keeps changing or the multicast mac is maintained

Interesting question which I had not thought about before. Since the multicast MAC is derived using the multicast IP destination address I would expect that the multicast MAC address to be maintained hop by hop.

Indeed a good question

As rick said the multicast mac will be maintained across the hop

you can quickly lab it up and check
